Sooo excited to find this common treefrog 🐸 within moments of poking around the weeds of my hotel! The common treefrog is widely distributed throughout Central Asia, but despite being called “common” (rude), these frogs do something totally uncommon- they build foam nests! Once mated, female frogs secrete a foamy substance that hangs from a branch over water. This gets mixed with the sperm from the male to fertilize the eggs, and when the developed tadpoles emerge, they free-fall into the water! This process takes 5-6 days.
HOW COOL IS THAT?!
I’ve read about this stuff, seen it in documentaries, but being in Thailand and seeing these frogs in person has me geeking out big time. However, no one is paying much attention to the girl digging around the bushes with a headlamp, so I guess I’m fine 😂.
What makes you totally geek out?! I love hearing people talk about their passions 😊
The high winds create a layer of blowing snow close to the ground - it almost look like a layer of fog. The oxen are resting after the blizzard and soon they will probably get up and once again start eating.
If you haven't already seen my latest VLOG from my trip to the musk oxen in Norway, I have put a link in the bio;)
