No buts about it, the largest land mammal on earth is super cute ❤️🐘 Elephants are smart animals, experience a range of emotions and will even grieve for their dead. A herd will work together to raise young and bonds between elephants can last a lifetime!

Zebra shark. These recently endangered, nocturnal carpet sharks are frequently found in coral reefs, rubble and sandy areas in the ocean. When they’re young, zebra sharks have yellowish stripes on their body, earning them their name. But they lose their stripes! Once they’ve reached adulthood, their stripes turn to dark spots and that’s why they’re sometimes mistakenly called leopard sharks. They’re generally harmless and usually won’t attack humans unless provoked.

Yak. These high-altitude bovids can be found around the Himalayas. They are well adapted for higher altitudes, having larger lungs and hearts! This increases its capacity to transport oxygen through the blood. Yaks have been domesticated for thousands of years and are used for their fatty milk, wool and for hauling. Fun fact: their wool is naturally odor resistant!

Xoloitzcuintli. This hairless dog has been revered by indigenous Mexican people for centuries. Xolos were even buried with their owners to guide their souls to the underworld! It is now the national dog of Mexico and a common subject in Frida Kahlo’s paintings. This rare breed was endangered until 1954 when an initiative was made to restore the breed. Don’t let the myth fool you, this dog isn’t actually the chupacabra!

White Rhinoceros. The largest rhino and the second largest land mammal on earth. Although called the white rhino, they are grey, just like the black rhino. The most notable difference between the two is in their lips – the white rhino has wide flat lips for grazing on grass and the black rhino has more pointed lips for picking leaves from bushes and trees. Despite their massive size, they can run up to 30 miles per hour!
